I thought there was a previous thread about this but it covers year of use (shape of part) and not dates stamped can anyone decifer this from a 68 Dearborn car hood hinge; OB712D3 OB Im not sure and the date is July 12 with D3 the same as many Ford stampings.

Believe OB identifies the supplier or plant of the supplier and the rest follows the typical sheet metal stamping pattern

This is really timely.
After a week of stripping and redoing the deck, I finally got back to restoring stuff -- like my hood hinges. I, too, thought the stamping was odd and didn't find anything in the date code section.
I'm glad that my hinges work out correctly for my car, too. Matching number hinges!
