Title: 70 gas pedal help
Post by: RocketScientist on October 05, 2018, 11:50:09 PM
I went to install the throttle cable on my 69Nov Dearborn B2 and found it wouldn't attach to the gas pedal. I suspect the pedal is the problem. Help!

Can the attachment slot be modified to fit or is the rest of the pedal dimensionally incorrect to give a wrong throttle response.

Thanks,
Brad

What does the end of the cable look like on the cable your using?  Is it smaller than the cutout in the end of the throttle pedal.

As  for throttle response are you reporting that once engaged the fully depressed pedal does not move far enough to fully open the carburetor?  Just checkign but do you have the factory carb installed?

Jeff, I am trying to use (what I think is) the correct throttle cable but it doesn't match the gas pedal I have. The carb is the factory unit - I am trying to go back to a stock set-up but I am finding something isn't right.

I could modify things to work together but my thinking is if there is an incorrect part, will it work together properly?

From what I see I think you have the wrong gas pedal....maybe someone who has an extra one can post a picture.  Especially the end where the cable attaches.

The pedal pivot rod is the 1969 version and will not work correctly with the 1970 cable. I don't have any pictures handy but the 1970 pivot rod is flat on the top instead of curved and has a slotted opening at very top center.

That's guys and I was afraid I have the wrong pedal. I can picture the 70 pedal now and know what to look for.
Thanks,
Brad

Found a picture of one - well at least the top attaching end. :)

Different from the 69 version.

I have a 70 pedal that I have already phosphate and oil coated.  PM me and we can talk if you haven't found one yet. JM
