Title: 1968 GT Hood Turn Signal Inserts

I did a search an could not come up with any info regarding the correct finish for the GT Hood Turn Signal Inserts. Should they be painted body color or was there another process for these parts. Also would they be painted fully off the car or on the car or in the housing. What overspray would there be if any.

They were painted as a assembly.
