Title: 68 Driver side remote mirror
Post by: don.piotrek on December 17, 2018, 11:04:19 AM
Was the remote mirror a standard option on the 1968 c-code coupe with deluxe interior? Should it be listed in the Marti Report?

Unlike the 1967 Mustangs, all of which came from the Factory with a Driver's side Remote Mirror as "Standard" (unless it was somehow deleted), the 1968 Models only came "Standard" with a fixed Driver's side rearview mirror. However, the Remote Control Driver's side Mirror was available as a Regular Production Option (RPO), and should be noted on the Marti Report if ordered as such.

The Driver's side Remote Control Mirror was also available as a Ford Accessory, Part # C8MY17696B, as well as its matching RH "companion" fixed mirror,                    Part # C8AZ17696A.

Hope this helps,

Bob

don.piotrek can you provide more information about the car?  Plant, completion date, all options ...

Looking at Marti reports from 68 it appears that the remote drivers side mirror may have been part of certain packages and for that reason don't always show up in the options list as a separate item leading to confusion

Thanks Bob, Jeff.

The car was built in Dearborn, Dec 1st, 1967.
Body style 65B, interior trim 6Y. It was a c-code with c4 transmission.

As per the Marti report, the options were:
- Black Paint Stripes
- Black Vinyl Roof
- 7.35X14-4 Ply Rated White Sidewall Tires
- AM Radio
- Interior Decor Group
- Tinted Glass
- Deluxe Seat Belts
- Heavy Duty Battery

Jeff is correct. It appears that the LH Remote Mirror was included with the Visibility Group Option, and as such, would not have been listed separately on the Marti Report.
Possibly those with more knowledge of 68's than I could find more, but that's the only "package" I could find where it was included.
