Per the "Mustang Production Guide", the first scheduled build day for a 65 Fastback was August 1, 1964. Per "Mustang Does It", the 65 Fastback was "introduced" on September 9, 1964. Typically, October was the usual month that the "Big Three" auto makers began selling the next model year's new cars. With the sales hype Ford used on Mustangs, they probably were sold as they came off the auto carrying truck.

Have a contest to see who can supply a copy of the earliest delivery date invoice from a dealer.
The invoice could also be in the form of a title or plate request.

Owned two early fastbacks over the years. Once was so early it was built with the cloth interior and the other was ordered as the first special order "710001" for southern Calif. Always believe the dealer did it that way to get one of the first since a paid for special order would have typically been moved, in build order, before many other types of orders.
Rarely do any owners out here kept any paper work with their cars so it's rare to find original paperwork on out cars
