I know most of the types used but am stumped on this color. It looks like a greenish black natural metal color. I have seen this on some bolts and on some bracket parts. It's on my Cyclone so I am just asking generically what type of plating it might be. It is not paint, and it has a mottled look, Like yellow zinc would have. Any ideas?

Pictures would be nice.

If you go to the very last page of the AMK catalog http://www.amkproducts.com/Catalog_PDF/403-BC.pdf (http://www.amkproducts.com/Catalog_PDF/403-BC.pdf) (scroll all the way down)
You will see illustrations of every typical bolt or hardware finish.

It sounds like it might be black chromate. Black chromate has a mixture of colors in the same way as gold chromate (zinc dichromate) but mainly black.

That color looks similar to the bucket seat spacer/carpet protector found on some 66's

I have some original 65-early 67 seat track plates with good plating still and the black chromate is what it appears to be. It match's perfectly.
