Title: 68 4 speed shifter rod finish

Would the shifter rods and levers be natural or P+O ?

Phosphate and oil, Unless it depends on assembly plant. Others may know more.

That is the only original finish I have ever seen regardless of plant .

Thanks Chris, Bob. Are the washer, lock washer and nut that retain the shift lever to the transmission also P+O ? I have seen many ways of these levers being attached to the trans but looking at a MPC it shows all three is this typical ?  The assembly manual doesn't show this detail for either 3 or 4 speed.

Phosphate and oil on the rods and levers. Silver cadmium on the shifter control box on my '67.

 I have seen some shifter rod levers bare steel but not  sure of which years.
