Title: WANTED: Dead or ALIVE! 289 AUTOLITE Distributor C7ZF-D, -G or -H
Post by: 67gtasanjose on February 15, 2019, 09:28:09 AM
Need to be correct for a 67 A-code, 4 barrell 289, C4, and Thermactor. I had no trouble locating one for Non-Thermactors and manual trans applictions, they seem to be plentiful.

Otherwise, title should be self-explanatory. I need the housing mostly. Will consider various date code but I think most desirable would be C7ZF-12127-D with a date of September to October 1966.

Since my car is NOT likely ever going to be a Thoroughbred job, I am flexible about the dates.

In doing a GOOGLE search this morning, back several years ago a VMF member was also looking for a November, 66 4V, auto, Thermactor distributor  and must have used Mustangtek (like I did) to research suggested engineering numbers.

An answer came back:

"Sep 03, 2011 ยท
"According to Bob Mannel's book, you could use any of the following:

C7ZF-12127-D
C7ZF-12127-E
C7ZF-12127-G

The C7ZF-12127-H is for automatic, smog equipped cars from 2/6/67."

I did find a very pricey C7ZF-H but if I figure if I am going to pay a high premium, I ought to at least get the correct date for my build.

I don't know why I have not bought Bob's book yet but can anyone collaborate this info or confirm a date and suffix that would be close to my build date?

I don't recall talking about this John.
I built another dated distributor for now but...
