Hi all,
I've searched around and even went over to the SAAC forum to search and found nothing talked about. I've got one last thing to confirm on my car for the original items, everything else has been done, but the transmission is still eluding me. I have not found the K-Code vin stamp on my C4 auto transmission. I know where to look for a Toploader, but not a HiPo C4 transmission. Does anyone have any info on where they might have VIN stamped a HiPo C4 Transmission?
On a side note, I have confirmed based on an article I read about the defining HiPo C4 Transmission characteristics, and this is indeed a HiPo C4 Transmission, the valve body was the giveaway. But I would really like to confirm if it's original to my car. I know not all K-Code transmissions were indeed stamped, but I'd at least like to see and been trying to find info on where that stamp might be located.
Thanks in advance,
Jason

It's located next to the bottle opener - ;)

VIN's were not stamped at the assembly plants until during the 68 production year. On earlier cars this practice was done only to "performance" manual transmissions or four speeds. Like many things you can't always confirm if a part is original to a specific car only that it likely isn't (wrong castings, casting dates, engineering numbers ......)
So you can stop looking and find something else to do with your time :)

Haha, thanks Jeff, no wonder I couldn’t find any info on it... moving on then ;)

I have a March 26 Metuchen 1966 K Code with a C4. No engine or C4 VIN. Very original. I spent too much time looking as well.
Much was said about engine VINs on HiPO Forum. - Jeff just said it all. It seems people w/VINs take a strong stance.

Yeah, I read a lot of those post on the HiPo forum (miss it ;), I know not all engines and transmission were stamped, I did find the vin stamp on the engine, it's very faint but it's there right next to the battery ground where they're apparently supposed to be and the numbers align, so I guess I have that one covered... good to know about the C4 transmissions...
Our cars aren't too far off and it's rare to find another original 66 HiPo with C4 transmissions, love to see some pictures of your car...
