I'm replacing a leaky oil sender and was wondering if either of these is close to the correct sender for the dash light? This would be for an early (September 64) 65 Dearborn built Fastback with a 289. I would think the sender on the left (WVE/AIRTEX/WELLS 1S6918) to be closer to correct but the sender on the right (Standard Motor Products PS10) is what NPD sent and says its closest to concours.

This is an original one for comparison.

The end on yours is different. This is for warning lights.

Looks identical to the one in your photo. The one I pictured is also for idiot lights.

What are the threads on your end for?

Maybe a service replacement?

A picture is worth a thousand words. It looks like the sender on the right in my pictures is closest to the original even though the finish is off. So the main body on the originals looks to be a zinc type finish with the insulator blue and the terminal that sticks out green with the connector brass. Would you agree?

As I read this I`m reminded of Bob Mannels book --http://www.fordsmallblock.com/home.html I bet the most correct answer is in it.

Ah I see. My photo shows the 68 - 70 style push on connector. Yours is the style used from 65 - 67 with the flat sideways clip on connector. Otherwise they are identical. I forgot about the change from early to late.

I checked the Mannel book. For 65, there is a picture of the extension and sender for the oil pressure gauge but not the oil sender for the dash light. There is a picture for the 66 dash oil light sender and it is closer to the sender on the left in my pictures.

From one of the examples in the Unrestored Picture Thread section.
Aug 64 projected day car
A little dirty when the picture was taken but has some clues to consider

Thanks Jeff. I looked through the unrestored threads and didn't see anything. Thanks for adding it.
