A friend has a 1966 hipo coupe, typically what color are the flags behind the 289 fender emblem?

Black and Chrome checkered flag.....Google search:

As already stated they are black. FWIW, the top row of the flag on the repo badges is close to being square while the originals are rectangular. It’s very noticeable when compared side by side
