Title: 1968 C4 torque converter
Post by: don.piotrek on March 25, 2019, 05:09:19 PM
I am in the middle of complete C4 overhaul in my '68 Dearborn c-code coupe.
The trans show signs of some previous basic and unprofessional attempts of repairs. One of the reasons to open it up and rebuild was that it didn't shift smooth, especially from the 1st to 2nd gear.
After opening the torque converter I found out there is this part on the strator pretty badly worn out. How do you call it? It is made of plastic. Can I buy a replacement for that? Or shall I just go for a whole new torque converter?

Doing your own rebuild of a torque converter now there is a challenge. How would you balance it once done?

Sure they can be purchased just never seen anyone ask for one.  Guess you win the question of the day :)

In any case and to the question I think I would go with a replacement or a rebuilt unit but that is just me.
