Hey all,
Looking for the original glove box light housing for 1967 mustang. I can't seem to find anything online, other than a bullet style that does not fit. Hole size in glove box is approx. 3/4". Would that be correct sizing for the time period?

The light does not mount in the hole in the glove box liner. It mounts in the dash frame, a switch closes when you open the door and the light shines through the hole in the liner.
I think NPD sells them.

Cars typically would NOT have a glove box lamp unless it was equipped from the factory with the "Courtesy Group". This option package also included a locking glove box door, a luggage compartment lamp and an under hood lamp.
Furthermore, no hole would be in the metal dash frame (inside the recessed opening for the glove box) on a car that did not originally have this option. There would however, be a dimple in the metal dash frame where the assembly workers would drill the hole for the lamp whenever the build sheets called out for the option.

The hole in the dash actually does exist. The Daniel Carpenter version is problematic and aren't well made. The wire is black/blue stripe and exits the wiring harness just above the left hand side of the glove compartment. The glove box light incorporates the switch, bulb socket, bulb and wire.

Keith I think the glove box light plugs in to a green with yellow stripe wire. It is hot all of the time. The black with blue stripe is a courtesy light circuit that is switch with the door jam switches.

+1 the blue/black in that area is for the underdash light. The glovebox wire is green/yellow. That way the passenger can open the glove box and have light when driving down the road at night.

The 67 Shelbys came with wiring for the entire courtesy lighting group.
I can't speak to the front hood light.
But they did get the glove box light.
Early cars with steel framed trunk lids received a light.
Cars with fiberglass lids had the wire laying vacant on top of the wheelhouse in the trunk area.

That is correct. The wire off of the lamp assembly is black/blue stripe. No car comes "wired" for the hood lamp. It is it's own unit and attaches to the starter solenoid terminal.
I have a hood and trunk lamp in my Shelby as well.

What is the 1 inch hole in the glove box itself for?
-
It lets the light pass from the bulb, affixed to the dash, into the moveable box. They line up when the door is fully opened.
-
When the glove box door is open it allows the light to shine through. I tried to show that in the pictures, but the flash hid the bulb. The lamp is about 3" long. It incorporates the socket, switch bulb and wire in one unit.
