Title: What are these shift levers?
Post by: Bossbill on April 26, 2019, 06:22:09 PM
I thought we had a better place to ask these queries, but this section is all I found.

Can anyone identify these transmission shift levers? They were part of a 289 4 speed shifter assembly, but the rods and these levers make no sense. Thankfully the control box and shift handle were nice.

They say 'O   R' and O    L', left to right and have a FoMoCo stamp. They are flat.
I've also included the rods as that may help.

Could not find any matches as most of my close pictures of 4 speeds lack the linkage. The FoMoCo is the earlier style version which may or may not be a clue. The shape of both are very similar to lots of applications but most of the ones I have pictures of have engineering numbers stamped into them - but not all. Sorry can't be of more helps

I'll say this an odd one, Jeff.

After some Ebay digging it appears "O L" could be for a 1965-66 Mustang with a 6cyl and 4 speed. Ah, the infamous Dagenham which I had in my first car. I'll infer from this that the "O R" is the 1-2 shift lever.

On edit -- After some research it appears I need a Top Loader V-8 setup as described below:
Reverse Z-65-A with a "G" below OR C4ZR
1-2: Z-90-C
3-4: C4ZR 7285-C
