Title: Yellow top coil molded ID number
Post by: Hipo giddyup on July 04, 2019, 12:43:58 PM
I just cleaned up and repainted three yellow top coils I recently purchased. I’m curious about the number that’s molded into the yellow top itself. Please see attached pics, I am unsure what these numbers and letters represent.  The numbers I am seeing are 6D, 4D, and 2A. Couldn’t find much in the search here, hopefully someone will chime in.  ;D

Those are mold numbers. The only date code is the stamp.

Ah, so nothing connected to the date code itself. Thanks Jim!

Agreed that at one time there was thought that they meant something we could use but over time and cross checking with the printed date and looking for patterns nothing tangible was discovered so the mold number seemed the best explanation
