Title: 66 Alternator Ground Bolt Finish
Post by: rockhouse66 on July 18, 2019, 11:50:05 AM
Can someone please tell me the proper finish for the ground bolt that attaches the alternator to the engine block?  9/65 scheduled build San Jose A-code.

The attachment type depends on the transmission. An automatic uses a stud, two external tooth lock washers and a nut, all 7/16 inch. A manual transmission uses a bolt and one external tooth lock washer, again 7/16 inch. All components are shown as clear zinc (-S8). Its main function is battery ground, the alternator ground is along for the ride. The stud application is poorly documented, and may be part of a running change.

Thanks Jim.  I was hoping for P&O so I could DIY!
