Title: Axle code
Post by: Juanball Mustang on August 06, 2019, 06:34:46 AM
Just received the Marti Report for my July 27th '67 convertible. It has an axle code of "O" . 2.79 :1 conventional diff . That code doesn't show up in any references I've looked at . Any thoughts on why this is or am I missing something ?

Probably the most egregious error I’ve seen.  The axle is common but was omitted in the table listed in the shop manual.  This was propagated to many reference documents, books, guides, and websites.

+1  Could almost predict the question just by looking at the title of the thread.

Ford missed it and hundreds copied and repeated the mistakes over the decades

Somebody knew about this because the code is listed in the Mustang Production Guide, Vol 2.

I thought the letter codes were locking and the numbered codes were conventional axles.

Correct in 67 (it changed in 69) its an "0" not a "O"  In 69 - up its a "O" (letter) not a "0" (number)    ::)
