Title: 1969 GT500 Valve Covers
Post by: ninedrvr on October 01, 2019, 05:19:34 PM
Were these only cast aluminum? Just curious as to whether the Shelby 428s in 69 followed the same chrome to aluminum progression as their Mustang counterparts?

Cast only on regular production Shelby cars.

#218 had the snake version

Would the emissions sticker(ignition timing and idle speed) be on the valve cover or the shock tower? I have seen it both ways. 11/1968 build.

11/68 - Wow a very early car.

Looking at unrestored early examples - drivers side shock tower above the service sticker

I have seen it both ways as well. I have even seen them in both places although redundant. Unfortunately I have not been able to distinguish a pattern. I have seen more 69/70 GT500's with the sticker on the valve cover then without. Just me.
