I finally got the engine out and starting to clean it up. I came across the engine assembly date stamp 7C10. Has anyone come across an engine assembly date that is the same as the cars build date?

Would that be the date found on the door tag or the "completed on" date from the Marti report?
Going to split this off of the current thread since the focus is different

The build date is from the Marti Report.

Thanks making it clear that it is what Kevin found in the Ford data as the build date of the car. Too bad we don't have record of when the car was started in this example

No don't have anything close to that in my records
Guess it could possibly be a mis-stamp
Did you look for the other dates on the oil pan mating surfaces?
Not sure how the engine could have been assembled, finished transported to the car plant, installed and the car completed all in the same day.

Maybe delving into yet another thread, but what determines the “Build” date and “Release “ date. I noticed on my Coupe that they are the same date. For this particular Fastback, it was released 3 days after the build date. Just looking over the car, it seems quite the coincidence to get a replacement engine that close to dates for the car.

Believe that its the completion date (unless someone has been told different by Kevin) and the date it was shipped or transported from the car plant. At least that is my current understanding. Sometimes (depending on timing and destination) they needed to wait for the right train going the right direction though they may have gone through several rail yards in their travels as a fully loaded individual rail car. Of course that increase the likely hood of thief and other possible issues.

Agree.

Is there a chance that the block or short block assembly has been changed?
What are the casting dates of exhaust manifolds, intake manifold, distributor, carburetor, etc.
