I am in need of a 68 antenna that would have come with my car. I believe the part number is C7ZZ-18813-A and the base of the antenna is round. I have an antenna with a rectangular base so I'm assuming it's a service replacement. Are your antennas the round base ones? Doesn't appear so given the part numbers I see in the pictures.

if you have a 68 it should be a rectangular base, 67 is round ones I have are rectangular 68 I am looking for a 67 nos round base thanks nick

The ones marked C8ZZ with rectangular base are a service part first issued around 1975. They give good radio reception but are totally wrong for a restoration.
The antennas that came with the 1968 Mustang when new from the factory are always the round base style with C7ZZ part number.

+1 Dealers installed the rectangular ones. All factory optioned radios in 68 had round antenna bases.

So by deduction the antenna was replaced in the 1970's given the time the C8 rectangular antenna was put in service?. I never paid much attention to the rectangular base antennas since they were not factory on the cars that were my field of interest.

Would invite interested parties to start a discussion thread in the appropriate section if we need more discussion and let the member sell his parts ;) . A visit to the Unrestored Picture Thread section might be helpful for some. Not allot of antenna pictures - too busy taking detailed ones- but the first three cars in the section should give supporting examples

Royce is correct. Factory correct is a round base C7ZZ -18813 for 1968. 68 Shelbys came with a C7ZZ ( round base ) and all Other 68 had round base. That C8ZZ service part has caused a lot of confusion. It serviced many years/models including trucks. Should have been a C8xx number.....
