Title: brazing spot welds
Post by: big bad blue on November 14, 2019, 04:38:55 PM
On my 70 Dearborn Cougar some of the brazing are complete misses. These were used to hold panels in place before electric spot welds? How were these made? The way I know to braze is with a torch. These sure seem to be done fairly fast and a little reckless.

Believe they were done during the process of placing the individual panels in different jigs as they assembled the panel sub assemblies at the car plant or at the supplying plant - for example the one that stamped and built doors.  Sure the operators/welders were quick fast and most of the time accurate given that amount of hours of practice they got over the months years and decades they did the task. With a few fill in guys here and there  ::) for sick and vacation days
