I am working on a set of spring off a 1968 SJ S code coupe built 8-24-67. I have found that it has two different springs so I thought 1 must have been replaced at some point till I looked closer at the date codes. They are exactly the same. My conclusion is one is misstamped. I could not find any color stripes on either of them.
One is
180EC 7
C7ZA AS
The other is
180EC 7
C7ZA AU
From what I can find it seem likely the AS is correct with orange- white stripes.
Would you stripe them the same?

Can you see the rust "shadows" on both from the paint marking stripes? Just in case ( have not seen it before) someone screwed up and installed on wrong spring. Could have also just been a miss marking (paint marks) at the supplier
Just going through the possibilities by collecting some additional data points

Try as I might I could not find any evidence of the paint stripes. I think the springs may have been blasted fully assembled and red primered then painted black.
The car has been apart for forty years. It was owned by a body guy that did some interesting things to it.
