Title: Trunk Drop/Rear Quarter Panel Drain Differences
Post by: J_Speegle on December 20, 2019, 09:10:06 PM
The question came up in another thread this week but since the following covers more than just a couple of years thought it would better serve the membership to post some pictures here, in a new thread. Hope this serves to help others

Red arrow - trunk drop/rear quarter panel drain location  (same location on 66 Mustangs) Rubber torn from age and use I guess

Its often a surprise to owners that have had rear sheet metal repair or replacement to discover the wrong panels were used leaving the car with no drains or the wrong (for the year) drains on one or both sides.

Any chance you can add the drain hole locations and style for each year?

Picture #1 shows the location for 64-66 and the last picture shows the location for 67-70 but guess I could do a better job and find pictures of each with the rubber "fixtures" not attached. Will see what I can do. Just grabbed a few examples that at least showed some of the details.

Hi, Sorry for this amateur question:
On my 65 Metuchen FB passenger side 1/4 panel was replaced (terrible molding and job) and on driver side there was a patch on the rear bottom so no drain plugs on both sides.
Question: Does this car has 1/4 panels drain plugs?

Sounds like it doesn't but as mentioned it did originally

Thanks, I don't know if there are best reproductions on aftermarkets 1/4 panels, but the one on my car seems to be molded on top of another one, so lot of work to fit it correctly, on driver side the same with rear bottom patch repair
