Title: 428 ID Paper Tag
Post by: ninedrvr on January 20, 2020, 08:40:39 AM
GT500 11/68 build. Is this supposed to have a tag/sticker with an "L" or a "D"? Also what number should it be; 428CJ Auto 3.00 gear?

All FE engines were assembled at Dearborn so it should be a "D". The "L" is for Lima Ohio where they assembled Boss 429 and six cylinder engines only. Your car should have a 422 engine code for a 1969 with C6 automatic.

As you may have discovered there is no commercially available sticker that is correct. I ended up modifying one with the L to look like a D.

What does the "T" or "S" mean after the number?

Maybe not a complete list here https://www.428cobrajet.org/id-engine-codes but it does list 422T as a Super Cobra Jet with manual trans!
