Title: DDL 9423 PAINT

Hello, was wondering if the ditzler DDL 9423 low gloss black,for underhood on the Boss, what kind of shelf life does that have, I found a
Quart  for sale, the good old stuff I don't know how old it is it's the  lead free  so it shouldn't be super old just want to make sure if you guys think it's still good.the can is unopened.Thanks,  Greg

Don't think I would use it for the engine compartment black. Would save/use it for the exterior body needs instead.

Hello Jeff, I always thought that's what they used on the under the hood paint you know the aprons and everything on a 70 Boss  N-J built.Thanks,  Greg.    Seattle

As long as it has not been frozen or dried up it should be ok to spray.

I have the correct PPG DDL 9423 for under hood and also the correct PPG DDL 9381 textured black paint for the exterior hood and trunk black on boss cars in 1970.   Both cans are several years old and as long as the can has an air tight seal they will last seemingly forever.  My PPG DDL 9381 textured black paint is currently on the ebay site at the moment but I can make a better deal to folks here

Oh, and a word of advice.  Use the ppg black primer (cant remember the numbers right now) BEFORE spraying that expensive obsolete PPG 9324.  Use the 9324  as a final coat just to get the correct finish.   That same ddl 9324 lacquer paint is also correct for your rear axle as well if your doing a concourse restoration.

No Ford had a product they call chassis black you could by over the counter. Not sure how close it was to what they were shooting on the line. Guys with the Model A's and Early V8's used it for the frame

Original stuff didn't have a texture and originally often had a greater sheen as you can see in many of the pictures from the period. Varied by day, climate and other conditions

 I have used DDL 9423 for engine compartment black for 40 years, nothing better in my opinion. If you run short call me , no shortage in Wi.
