Title: Parking brake dash light
Post by: MorganLeBlanc on February 28, 2020, 12:22:08 AM
My Mach 1 originally came with a parking brake light however was missing when I purchased it. It was replaced with a cheap alarm system that had a toggle switch in that hole.  Does anyone know where I could find one? All The ones I have come across are completely trashed.

Ad in the Wanted section would be my first stop.  Not sure if they are the same as Cougars - if so then a call to WCC might be another option

They come up in various forums from time to time.
Too bad this one got away, but it gives you an idea of what to expect to pay.

Edit: Google is really annoying sometimes, dates the link as Feb. 13 2020 while the post is from 2003??!!

Mansfield Mustang might have it, but you have to call for pricing and availability of the item pictured in this case.

Mansfield Mustang isn't likely to have it. He caters to FE cars and mechanical parts for them. Ebay is likely your best source.

Thanks guys,

Jeff, I did a search and looked in the SALES section and did not find anything. I just thought that more 69-70 owners frequent this section, therefore, I would start a discussion here. for me not owning a Mustang with this option before I am still on a learning curve

Yes, I saw a couple that was in bad condition and would require replating.  I will keep my eyes open for one in better condition.

On tach cars - 1969 light bezel is metal - 1970 light bezel is plastic.

Morgan: I go through Ebay often in the evening during my layovers between flights. If I stumble onto something I'll sure send you the link.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I was looking at one on eBay for 175.00 but its really rough, it would need replating which I think here would be around $100.00. It just seems like a lot of money.

My October 1969 DB 70 mach the bezel is metal. On my May 1970 SJ Grande it is plastic and looks like the 71 version.

Jeff I think that is a good idea. I would like to learn more about this option. Just the fact that the bezel for 69 is metal and 70 is plastic was news to me.

I ended up buying an emergency brake light off of eBay. Wondering if any of the members have one on their Mach1. Can you post pictures? Wondering how the switch is mounted?

thanks,
Morgan

Did you get the switch with the light you bought ?  If I remember correctly, it has a single screw holding it to the parking brake assy. I'll see if I have one mounted tonight to take a pic or two....
