Looking to confirm the finish on these 2 rear trap door parts.
The handle appears natural, but could have been phosphated.
The lock appears to be zinc plated
Thanks

The lock is zinc plated and the handle is typically a medium shade phosphate .

Also associated with each is the mounting hardware were , in this case, matches the item your mounting
Mounting hardware for latch/lock is zinc and for the handle or up lock is phosphate

Thanks Jeff great photos. Just looking at the hinges. Would they be interior color or just black. The look charcoal metallic to me.

Interior color.

Interior color.
Thanks Bill it looked that way to me. It also looks like all of the bolts are phosphate.

They are not painted interior color on 68's. See picture above on the car with the saddle interior.
As far as Black or Charcoal let me find a couple of good close up examples with Black (Charcoal) interiors to compare the hinge to the trap door to find out

Interior color.
Could you be confusing 68 San Jose with 67 San Jose?
Number of little differences with the trap door related details between the two
-
Yes.
I need to quit skimming posts and actually read them.

Its ok. I find myself reading through some post too quickly trying to get through everything that cross my computer (forums, emails and so on) and miss the details at times
All is good - none of us are perfect

Hi Jeff while we are on the topic of the door hinges here are the fold down back seat hinges. They look like the same color to me, To me they look like charcoal metallic, but could be a flat black. Hard to tell with 50 year old paint. See steering column for comparison

Like you can't really tell in the pictures. Might want to find a bracket or such that is black and compare it directly to both of the hinges as they may have been supplied by the same company/supplier. I've used this method when comparing the very dark grey batch colors used on some floors that appears at glance to be black. The contrast helped out
Bottom line IMHO is that your there in person the best place to make the determination on this specific subject with an "in person" eye ball shot and it will be the same for someone looking at it in person but the pictures you provided do appear very close to one another only angle and such may explain any slight difference I can see through a monitor

Thanks Jeff appreciate it. In my case it is tougher to differentiate as my car has the black/charcoal Metallic interior and the paint is 50 years old

Maybe compare it to the heater (assuming its not an AC equipped car) door, the interior rear fiberglass trim mounting brackets, spare tire wrench, jack and so on. Those would be 50 years old also and we know those were black. Just a thought

Thank Jeff great idea. I forgot about the heater box door. It's alway tough with a restored car as it is sometimes hard to know what was restored and what wasn't.
