Title: 9-inch oil slinger were they welded on?

I was detailing the carrier and it looked like someone mig welded at 6 o'clock and 12 o'oclock.  The welds looked like bubblegum.  I ground them off but wasn't sure if they were factory

Seen them tacked and on others just held in place by the third member studs. Likely different depending on the year of application. Didn't document or take pictures of any of these  just recall from disassembling a number of them
