Title: Disc brake pad retainer

Hi all.   I currently have a shiny, probably chrome, pad retainer on my front calipers.    I have found in my stash of parts, a retainer that is
more than likely, the proper retainer pad with the FoMoCo logo and K/H logo.    It's a bit rough but I'd like to restore it to replace what's on the
caliper now.     What should the proper finish be for these retainers?

Thanks Charles, there were reminants of black paint when I stripped it.
