Title: Cam Retainer bolts
Post by: Scode67FB on May 23, 2020, 07:02:20 PM
I don't if this the correct place for this question so feel free to move it if not.

I'm taking apart a 64 Hipo 289 to sell some of its parts. I need to get the cam retainer and associated parts. So my question is What tool do I need to remove the cm retainer bolts. I've never seen heads like these before. Can I use a slotted screwdriver or is it something special?

Clutch head fastener. You should be able to get the bits or sockets just about anywhere from a hardware stor to a parts store.

Thanks for the quick reply. However, they're not as easy to come by as you believe. Nobody local keeps them in stock. Not Home Depot. Not Lowes. Not O'Reilly or Auto Zone. The only place local that supposedly stocked it was Napa store about five miles away. So I drove over there only to have the counter junkie tell me NOPE. Everybody offers it on their websites, but I'll have to order it and wait. Oh well.
