Ok, I found what appear to be marks on the ends of my axles and want to confirm what I think I'm seeing.
1970, Dearborn, Oct 6th build date, 9" with 31 spline axles, 3.91 gear ratio.
Driver's side axle end ~ painted white with a pink line / slash? And a little white squiggle, like an initial / inspector mark?

Passenger side axle end ~ possibly a yellow blob and another initial squiggle? Or is that just a different shade of rust?

Hello Mike, just wanted to confirm your findings as my axle also have the white and pink markings on them, there where also pink markings along the axle between the carrier and the outer hub. I will try and dig up some pictures when I have time.

Thanks! Anything on your passenger side axle?

Have two examples with blue swipe on the axle end. One on a car one on a NOS example

Sorry don't have the same for the DS for your application
As a reminder for all ;) Make sure all the other details on your restoration are up to standards/original before you worry about paint marks and daubs. They don't make up for falling short in other areas and adding paint marks to a poor reproduction part is just plain silly IMHO

As indicated previously in this topic here are a couple of pictures of my replicated white and pink markings as found during disassembly of my axles
