Post by: c9zx on August 08, 2020, 01:57:34 PM
Did any 1969 Cougar Eliminators come with a space saver spare? Thanks, Chuck

Think Kevin Marti's access to the Ford records is the only way one could tell

Chuck,

We know of several 1970 Elminators that were equipped with "space saver spare tires", however, we presently do not know of any 1969 Eliminators so equipped.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I was just curious. The original spare tire decal is still intact and show a full size spare. The decal number is C9ZB-17093-C. The car's build date is June 12, 1969. Thanks, Chuck

The 14 inch wheels allowed a full size spare to fit easily in the trunk which is why so few examples have space savers. Boss 302,429 ,69/70 Shelby all came with 15 inch wheels which required the space saver because the 15 inch wheel would not fit easily if at all especially with the wide tread tires.

Did the ones with the original space savers have a mounting bracket like what was used in the Mustangs and Shelby's with the holder for the inflater bottle?

Yes, mounted above the passenger rear frame rail.

Thanks

So like most  of our cars a decent indicator if the Mustang/Shelby has not been altered

Chuck,

Correction we do know of at least one 1969 "M" code with a "space saver".  As Jeff stated the only way to know how many would be to query Marti Auto Works.

Thanks Dave. I hope all is well with you. My car had no provision to mount the space saver spare above the frame rail so it came with a full sized spare. The spare that was with the car when I bought it (in 1982) was/is a Goodyear Polyglas F70x14 RWL tire.
