Title: '69-'70 Mustang bumper arm insulators FOUND
Post by: DougDyar on September 15, 2020, 03:00:30 PM
Hello All

I'm searching for a pair of each type, tubular and u-shaped, front bumper arm insulators, group # 17B947.

I didn't realize these were originally on my car as they are missing.

Here's a link to a discussion on them:

Thanks!

Doug

To update this thread:

I found a pair of the tubular ones. Now looking for only the ones that clip on to the top front of the bumper arm. Here's a pic I stole from Speegle:

I made a mold to make one for myself about 15 years ago from an original one. I have made a number of sets for some friends.  So if you want an Armond repo your welcome to it.

I will get back to you as soon as I get one made.  I looked in my shop today for the Mold but it seems I misplaced it. I'll find it!

Just curious, what were the purpose of the insulators? We have a 69 that's been in Family 50 years and never to my knowledge seen any, on the bumper braces on the mach.

Would guess that like the rubber insulators on the round tubular bumper brackets they were reduce the possibility of direct contact, noise or vibration with other parts close by. In this example it would buffer the contact with the gravel panel/shield

Similar rubber insulators are used elsewhere on 69 and other years for this same apparent purpose.

Going to lock or close this thread down since we have sections on the site to discuss further and Armond has posted a Ford Sale post for these also
