65 convertible what is the material that the boot base molding/belt back molding (hockey sticks) made of? Are they stainless or something else that was plated? Mine have pitting on them and I want to know if I can sand them smooth and repolish or do I have to replace?

They are die-cast chromed. The middle section is a separate piece and stainless steel. Stainless steel can be buffed/restored. The hockey sticks would have to be re-chromed. There are reproductions, but some have fit issues. I'd recommend re-chroming the originals... assuming they are original. The will have FoMoCo markings on the bottom and C4ZB-76... engineering numbers.

On my '65 Convertible.. I went with the Scott Drake Repro Hockey sticks...since the car is a "Driver"... I was very happy with the look/quality and fitment... I was surprised at how well it fit. The passenger side went on like a dream... The Driver's side was a little tight, but it eventually slid in with some coaxing... All in all, They were excellent. It's certainly one of Scott Drake's best repro parts as long as they don't mess with it any time in the future....
In another SD story, I went with the Repro "handgrip" '64 half-'65" Quarter panel ornaments. Total trash. Did not fit correctly, Wide gaps, and even more troubles. Even the Chinese repros which I also had in stock fit and look more like the originals....Not lying either.... Stay far away from this SD Repro Part. SD for some nutso reason felt that they had to "Re-design" the entire part of both sides of these " '64 half-'65" Quarter Panel ornaments. I compared it with some of my originals. What a mistake. Total fail on this pair of parts...Avoid at all costs.
SD is "mixed bag".....but I have found more good than bad if that is any indicator.... so its not all bad..
