I don't keep pictures of restored cars - maybe someone else does

Is there a particular detail(s) your looking for that the group can help with?

Will help to know what month the car was built for some details

Hi Jeff,
Underbody colours, paint marks/dabs, colours of suspension components etc etc

For underbody colors (the base), given your assembly plant it would be best to check (if the car has not been restored or the floors repainted) you car since the colors and tints changed fairly often that year. Nothing better than to let you car tell you what it knows :)

Lacking that, we would need to know the VIN or when the car was likely assembled so we can look at other examples (if available) of cars built around the same time.

Over this base you will have sound deadener over spray from the rear wheel well application. Then body color overspray from somewhat heavy in the rear wheelwells and nearby panels as well as heavier along the rocker to floor area, fading out towards the center of the car. Over this (unless it was a black car) a lighter and closer (the the outside edge of the floors) amount of overspray from the pinchweld blackout process from the front wheelwell to the rear valance edge. Of course you have a series of seam sealer added over the base color also in a couple of specific areas.

As for the paint marks that is a long drawn out process (about 4 hours for most examples) again based on when (since we know where) your car was built. This includes what colors/marks were used on most cars, their size and how they were applied.

For the finishes of all the individual parts installed to the bottom of the car the first place to start is often the MCA rule book. It will provide the general finish of most of the items you are looking for.  If you can wait a little I just sent Charles a fairly full list to review that we'll post in the FAQ area of this section when he's happy with it ;)

Jeff,
i was asked, what color the undercarriage of the following car should have: 6F09A350414
i told the owner the info you wrote - that he shall check his car for clues. He told me that there are hints of red oxide,so i just want to check whether this matches your data. Could you check it, please?
