Title: Correct Date Code Heater Hose
Post by: 1970 Snake on November 02, 2020, 01:10:48 PM
Apparently there are only two date codes available on heater hoses for a 1970 428 CJ mustang. These repro hoses are with the red Autolite markings, strips and grooves.
Available date codes are H9H04B Nov 4, 69 and H8H02A Nov 2,68. My car was Dearborn built Sept 4, 1969 so would the H8H02A hose be correct or is the H9H04B correct as the vendors are saying that the later is for a 1970 mustang built before Jan 1970. The H8H02A hose marking seems quite early for a 1970 mustang and vendors are designating it as correct for 1969 mustangs.

I would say that neither one is "correct".

Obviously the Nov '69 date is after your car was built, so that one's out of the question.

The Nov '68 version could technically have been used when new, but likely wasn't as the date is almost a year before your build date. A few weeks to a few months before would be more believable.

Given only those two choices, I'd go with the Nov '68 version.

...and of course neither are correct for a September 1968 car.  Brian

Mine is a Sept 1969 car NOT 1968

Kevin Marti only makes that date on the red striped hoses for "without A/C" heater hoses. Yellow came later, and the cutoff date is 2/1/1970ish.

I thought that "H" month was August?

I believe you are correct regarding the date code "H" = Aug and not Nov, which would make more sense. I did not check these codes, only pasted on what the NPD website defines as the date codes.
And if in deed the date code H9H04B is Aug 1969 then that would be the correct hose for my car and not the H8H02A.
