Title: Early nj 1967 mustang- brake line routing
Post by: wils1514 on December 25, 2020, 11:14:19 AM
I’m running new brake lines on my 67. Adding disc brakes in the front. I have the Osborne manual but I still cannot figure out where a couple clips go. Attached are the pics of what I have now. Does someone have a good diagram of where all of the clips go? I have the clips installed loosely for now.

"Early lines" include a fuel line running down the tunnel too (just in case you didn't already know).
I have a restored San Jose example, if that helps...the assembly location likely only affected what day of the year that the early/late running change occurred (if this is of any help).
There are two (or 3?) spring steel type clamps used on these factory disc brake cars, one in the trans tunnel near where fuel line splits away from the brake line and at least one more by the steering column area (not seen in my pictures).
Perhaps Jeff has a few shots of those...I recall there were threads discussing them and pictures were provided.

BEFORE Restoration shots (San Jose example):
These pictures were taken in very poor lighting so I adjusted the filters to help you identify the mounting points and routing easier.

Thank you for those pictures! They help a lot!
So it looks like there are 3 clips on the firewall on the line from the distribution block to the passenger side caliper?

Negative.
I see only 2 plus one for the fuel line.

It looks like there is one under the heater hoses, one above the accelerator bell crank, and one below the brake booster in this photo. I could be wrong though about the one under the booster. Hard for me to tell...

We've only really looked in depth the 67 versions and details so far. They were posted in the following thread as an offshoot of the San Jose Running Change Thread

Will look to see what I have in pictures for the cars built at NJ and post

There isn't one under the brake booster. Look at picture 1 for another angle.

Only see two on the passenger side line on the early 67 NJ examples I have pictures of. There is one to the inside of the steering column for the rear brake line that you might be seeing

Also believe there is a clip that holds both lines together/apart just inside the steering column location also. Its the one made of spring steel and shaped like a "3"

Awesome! I think I have a pretty good idea where they all go now!
Thanks again
