Just using this as a temporary thread to collect some data for updating the Date Coding article in the Library.
Interested in seeing the dates (pattern/letters and numbers) from original hood latches from these two years. Might as well include the source of the latch if know
Thanks for helping

Jeff, i have an NOS assembly in the box, would this be something for you to observe, or are you looking for "on the car" components? I no longer have a 67-68.
-
From my Dec 66 SJ car - this was on the car when I bought it in late 79. I see only a makers mark, nothing else. Will be interested to see what else is out there.

Go ahead and post and include that it is a service part in the post. No welling what might be discovered. We've opened many conversations here on the site that have taken us in new directions and a fuller understanding.
"We don't know what we don't know" till we find it :)
Since this discussion may expand past the initial purpose I'm going to move it and split it out by years so we don't get details mixed with multiple reporting years and other details

You may want to check which style you have in the box. It would have to be very old stock not sold since during the 67 production year given the style changed during 1968 production . I for one have not come across a 67 hood latch NOS in a box . I have only come across 68 style.
-
I checked a 12 67 latches salvaged from a variety of cars no doubt produced at different plants . The ones I had did not have any numbers. I do not have any of the 68 style to check .
-
I have it at the office, will check in am.

A picture to illustrate the two versions. Notice the length of the primary latch section to the left in each for the main design difference.

Jeff, unfortunately i only have a latch support, C7ZZ-16707-A, do not see a date code or makers mark, has the Ford Service Parts sticker on it. Also has Blue/ white Ford tag on it also with Ford info. If this is relative to search i can get pictures to you. I assumed it was the latch, my mistake.

Don't need it at this time but thanks for checking

I checked the 67-style version on the Shelby -- which used the stock 67 Mustang latch -- and also find no maker's mark or date code.
-
I checked my car #817 dated 1/26/67. I can find no markings although I believe it to be original.
-
Thanks everyone. Think were have confirmed the lack of date codes on the 67 hood latch
-
Jeff, was my reply #2 the only one found with what is most likely a maker's mark, or have you documented others?

John -- can you zoom out on the pic to see where your mark was found?

here you go

Difficult to make out in your picture. How would you describe the marker's mark on the back side of that latch?
-
yes it is the back side. Hidden once installed most likely. Probably why there are no reports of others finding the same. Mine is still not reinstalled.

Jeff, it was in reply 2.

It looks like the letters C M M P .
-
I recall seeing this mark on something else. I need to search through pictures.
-
I found no date codes on the short 67 latch that I have. I will have to go back and look for the makers mark.
-
All of the latches on my shelf and on cars have the makers mark in the general /same area on the back of the latch. I was only looking for number and letters before.

So w've got two versions from that supplier
Altered the title of the thread and will leave it up rather than treating it as a temporary one since we've expanded it.
