Title: 68 Hood Latch Date Code Request
Post by: J_Speegle on January 10, 2021, 05:54:46 PM
Just using this as a temporary thread to collect some data for updating the Date Coding article in the Library.

Interested in seeing the dates (pattern/letters and numbers) from original hood latches from these two years. Might as well include the source of the latch if know

Thanks for helping

A picture to illustrate the two versions. Notice the length of the primary latch section to the left in each for the main design difference. Not unusual to find the incorrect version on a car after years of use, repairs or rebuilding

Thanks - here is another I found in my files

Long guide style also. This one shows a makers mark on the support arm

I don't have access to check the codes on my latch, but if it helps it's the short style. 8R02S140290, build date 16B (16 Feb 1968). Actual build date was 7 Feb.

You should not have the short style on a 68. Most likely was c hanged at some point.
