Title: 69-70 Door Hinge Spring Removal

Is it possible to reasonably safely remove and replace the spring on the 1969/70 door hinges?

If so, how?   Is there a tool available to do this?

I'd like to be able to swap springs from one hinge to another, in an effort to render the best rebuilt hinge I can based on original parts I have on hand.

It seems possible yet I'm a bit gun-shy to attempt removal since I've never done so and the spring seems to be under quite a bit of tension.
