I am missing the Acorn nuts that fasten the Mach1 door trim. Per the fastener spreadsheet the following is listed. 8-32 Nut, Acorn, 0.393T, 3/8 drive. Ford P/N 384102-S100. In by box of old fasteners from my car, I found two that fit this description. They are ~ .393 tall, 3/8 drive and is a stamped acorn nut that has 6 flanges that are formed to make the head. Pease see the picture. Are these the correct flange nuts? Also where to buy them? Alan

NPD has AMK P/N 16856-6A. I never saw these on my car. They don't have threads, they have two stamped and formed ears. I don't think they are strong enough to hold on the door trim.

Palnut is what you need to search for.

I believe AMK F-3869 Acorn nut is a Palnut fastener. Every review I have read says they have little or no holding force. I believe the original 1970 Acorn nuts fastener area was drawn and taped with 8-32 threads. This is a picture of one of the three (that I believe is original) found in my old fastener box. I will search for a good used original. Alan

I have not been able to find the 1 original acorn nut that I need. For at least now, I installed AMK F141 acorn nuts that are for a 69 hood moulding. They are ~.500 inch tall which is ~ .300 shorter than the original peak moulding nuts. Although they are not original in appearance they look good and are the best option I could come up with.

Good thing is that they will be easy to swap out when you do find the right and original style. Lucky that they are not too tall to hit the door jamb The one your using looks like the style used at some plants for the taillight panel trim

Jeff, My substitution is the same as the acorn nuts on my rear mach1 honeycomb panel and the original ones that fasten my hood molding. Ford should have used these, they are way better.

Thanks for confirming for others reading the thread - now and in the future. Hopefully you will find some originals to redo

Here's an original - doubt it has ever been removed, just painted over a few time ::)

I have three original acorn nuts but missing the fourth. Thanks for sharing the picture.
