I was going to put Halogen beams on my 64.5 restoration that has a generator, but checked a couple of threads on here that are 10 years old. What is the latest on halogens, is it still a current draw problem for this early circuitry and is there any simple work around for a "concours" restoration? I don't see any of the old standard sealed beams for sale.
Thanks.

In a word - DON'T.
Find a junkyard and "go shopping".

You may want to read this thread, it will give you some alternatives.

+1. You can find OEM bulbs new in the box on eBay for less than what a new wiring harness / fire damage repairs will cost.

Phil,
Here's a pretty nice looking pair of FoMoCo-etched Tung Sol's out on eBay right now. He states they work, etc. Not sure where your car was built.
I have a used set of GE's, etched, that are going in the San Jose fastback here fairly soon.
With old lights, you never know how long they're going to hang in there:
