Title: 1970 Mach 1 dash
Post by: Hipo giddyup on April 07, 2021, 11:01:02 AM
We are starting to work on the dash of my son's 70' Mach which is already out of the car. I have noticed that the lower portion where the glove box hinge mounts has been hacked and the door will not shut properly. I also noticed a bad dent in the inner metal portion, to the right of the heater controls. That will be a tough fix... I will be looking for a replacement but I wanted to make sure that ALL dashes in 70' were the same and can be interchanged between a coupe, fastback, and convertible. His dash is a Non-AC dash so a replacement will be less $$. Will a typical 70' dash have the correct stampings, holes ,etc for a Mach? Such as the hole to mount the sport lamp switch, etc??

Yes, a 70 dash is the same for all models. The sport lamp switch for a mach also served as a place for the rear defroster switch in a coupe or the power top switch in a convertible.

I think that some might have the extra hole below wiper switch and lighter for the E-brake warning light option.

Good point, thanks.!

I am seeing that a good used dash assembly is around $100-$150 for non-AC? Does this seem correct?

Or two holes if Deluxe Belts, Tach and Parking Brake Warning light.
