Did all 64.5 mustangs come with front and rear bumper guards from the factory?

Yes. Also, the earliest cars had no rubber snubber where they meet the bumper. Later cars had a thin bracket spot welded on the upper bracket, that retained a small rubber snubber to protect the bumper. Not sure when this change happened, but probably summer or fall of 1964.

The 64 Mustang Body Assembly Manual (AM0001) gives a "clue" as to the date the rubber bumpers were added. On page 8 (ref N4-8100) dated 7-3-64 and superseding the page dated 6-29-64, the bumpers (377769-S) are there with no reference in the changes section that they were added on 7-3-64. Therefore, the bumpers would have to been added during or prior to what changes were in 6-29-64. The rear bumper Assembly Maunal pages are dated in 1965 and are past the change dates.

Thanks all. Your answers are as I expected. A friend has a 64.5 and I went to look at her car to check things as I build my 65 and I noticed no bumper guards. She wasnt even aware that there should be some on the car. So I wanted to be sure before I let her know.
