Title: Concours Correct 1966 Std 289 Whitewall Tires
Post by: 66and67Pony on May 21, 2021, 09:28:00 AM
Which original style (Non-Radial) whitewall tires would be concours correct for my 1966 Mustang with a standard 289 and Standard Suspension?  I think the size should be 6.95 x 14".  I think the whitewall should be 5/8" on a 1966.  Brand is mentioned on the MCA Judging Sheet I have.
Options:
1) Firestone Deluxe Champion
Was this an original tire used in 1966?
Do Coker or others make the correct Firestone whitewall tire?
2) BF Goodrich
Was this an original tire used in 1966?
Do Coker or others make the correct BF Goodrich tire?
3) US Royal
Was this an original tire used in 1966?
Do Coker or others make the correct US Royal tire? (I think US Royal made the redline tires but I am not sure sure if the whitewall was originally used in 1966.)
4) Goodyear Power Cushion
Was this an original tire used in 1966?
Do Coker or others make the correct Goodyear tire?

Option: Was the US Royal Dual 3/8" Redline an option to the whitewall?  Does Coker offer the correct tire?  They told me that BF Goodrich made the original dual redline but I don't think this is correct?
Thanks for the help.

Firestone with narrow whitewall would be the most common.  Black sidewall was also available, as well as redlines (US Royal).
