I have the possibility to purchase a 66 K-code engine. It is complete and restored and works fine.
Heads are not original to motor but real K-code heads with only later dates.
Carb and everything on the engine is correct including damper, fuel pump and exhaust manifolds..
What would be a fair price to pay - and what would be a max price?
If not OK with price questions admin may of course delete...

Does it have a VIN stamped on the right side just above the oil pan surface?

Here is a description of one first posted in Jan on the SAAC site.
Still has not sold at this price Might at least help with a range or what is not in the range
"Complete hipo 289 engine assembly running takeout, 5E26 block/5D27 heads, VIN stamped 5R09K232XXX. Comes with: cast iron intake, steel oil pan, hipo motor mounts, fan to bell housing (no carb, aircleaner, valve covers, distributor, alternator, pulleys or brackets) $8000"

yes it has the VIN - actually it is the VIN of my car :-O so this may mean I am willing to go a bit "higher" ;-)

The engine with your actual VIN will add 30 to 50 THOUSAND dollars value to your car.

Jim, I didn?t expect it to be that much and since Jeff suggested 8K and they ask 15K I was hoping to get it down a couple of grand ;-)

You may misinterpreted what I stated - having the original VIN stamped engine for a 64 to 67 289 High Performance equipped car will add value to that car (include GT350 Shelby). The engine won't cost that much (hopefully), but a "K" code car without its original engine does not have, or will not retain, top value.

Didn't suggest a value just shared an ad for a similar engine. Its been up for a while with no takers at that price so the engine may not be all that is claimed or just no buyers at that price. Some may estimate the price by taking the total of the individual parts value and add them together for a base or add some additional value to them all if the dates suggest that they all may be have originally been related to one another originally. Of course that also eliminates some buyers from being interested in the assembly

Interesing about the block damage in the SAAC Forum.
I have a K block in my possession that also has that same damage. Clutch explosions are also a possible reason for this damage. I understand 'furnace welding' is one avenue of repair.
I should look up the vin in Gregory's book and see if it's registered. Baring that, I suppose I could ask the 65 or 66 Shelby registry (the year of this block escapes me, but I think it's a 65 or 66) and ask them to look.
I have no use for it.
