Title: Rear "grille" double face tape
Post by: calypso on June 16, 2021, 02:54:10 PM
Anyone know of a supplier of the white thick double face foam tape used on the black "grille" pieces on the trunk lid and fender extensions?

Original is typically described as thin relatively speaking . The last time I used some it was sourced at the paint auto body supply store.

Just have to find a roll wide enough so that you can cut a section from a single piece. Don't want to be able to look at the edge and see that its been pieced together.

There?s a Red 3M tape made for emblems, trim

Any auto store should have it

I used it on a loose front eyebrow on a 69 last year

Don't think they make it wide enough. Guess you could double it up but then the concern mentioned above may take place

You may try Shelby parts and restoration. In the past they sold a superior version of the rear deck grill mesh panel and may sell the tape for restoration purposes

Hopefully they are held on with the original material- old and aged :)

Any method that will not bend or curl the panels will be your best. Would start with dental floss or small fishing line with a nylon or plastic blade thing tool that will keep the adhesive from resticking after you have run the line or floss though the material. Clean up with silicon and wax remover has worked for me. You may choose another method but this is a method I use when removing emblems from new cars - debadging

Got the old ones off with a heat gun..,,,,,,,,,,word to the wise when putting the new ones on ( got mine from Branda ) they have the double sided tape already attached soooo come time to put on the long trunk piece 2 people recommended as once you place it  sticks and will not move.

I used painters tape to line up?..do two smaller end pieces first as not much room to move?.
