Title: 66 SJ GT emblems
Post by: 6R07K on July 24, 2021, 07:59:19 PM
Hi,

Looking to replace the reproduction GT emblems on my May 66 SJ car. Read all the threads and think I'm happy that 65's are a little darker and have the red pinstripe around the edge as oppose to black in 66. The problem is I hate the look of the SD 66 version as it is a flat red colour without the textured look, but mostly the satin finish as oppose to chrome. Looking at the SD 65 version although darker red it's a chrome finish and has a black stripe so I'm leaning that way. What is the deal with the satin finish used as I haven't come across this on original examples!

What would be considered the best option?

PS: If someone has a lead on good originals I could be interested.

Best option would be to wait and search out originals. Nice thing is that the reproductions will be fairly easy to remove and replace when the time comes. Place a few ads in different forums with the part number and enough information to get someone to check their stock pile

Yes looking for NOS C6OZ-16098-B.

In the meantime, I'm putting a set of reproductions on. Sourced in Australia as XR falcon emblems with "VITROLUX EMBLEM. D L AUTO CO." cast in the back. They look a lot better than the SD version.
