Title: GT350 air cleaner stud
Post by: Bossbill on December 02, 2021, 02:41:18 PM
I'm getting my 715 carb replated, but it didn't come with the right air cleaner hold down stud. I had an all thread  and nut.

What are the complete specs on the correct one?

Get a AMK one from NPD and do the measuring. The last 6 or so that I have gotten that way were the correct ones. They come gold zinc but typically would be silver for 67.

Sometimes my Search Foo is lacking. I knew the thread pitch but I thought it was something a bit more special than a simple stud (like an obscure FoMoCo part).

For others wondering 370970-SAK:
STUD KIT, Air Cleaner TO CARBURETOR, concours, STUD AND WING NUT, 1/4 INCH-20 CARB THREADS x 3 INCH OVER ALL LENGTH.

AMK guide to Ford Fasteners, pg 70 and page 68 (for type 2), stud 370970-S is a 2 21/64 inches long, 1/40-20 threaded for 13/16 at each end, with a nylon retaining pellet at one end (you get to choose). The wing nut was discussed. What actually was used is anybody's guess.

Great data, Jim.
I'll try both lengths and see what looks right (with my newly rechromed lid).

Bill,
You will find the one referenced by Jim is more correct - the 3" one in the kit is too long. It appears obviously too long when installed with the air cleaner assembly mounted.
Don't ask me how I know....

The "correct" stud, 370970-S8, is available at AMK as B-12604, $5.00. It's shown as 2 5/8 inches long, but it appears to have the nylon insert. I'm sure you can find other hardware items at AMK to make the $30.00 minimum charge.

Thanks Tom and Jim.

So many things going on right now on multiple cars.
I appreciate the help.

Does a '67 Holley use the same stud as a 4100.  Is that the p/n that is being referred to in the assembly manual?
