Title: 1970 Metuchen Mustang - assembly line application of wheel well sound deadening

Guys, the forward plastic splash shields in my front wheel wells currently have the stippled black sound deadening material oversprayed over the adjacent surfaces of the splash shields. This was done as part of the restoration of the car before my ownership.

My question is, were the splash shields fitted on the assembly line before or after the sound deadening goo was sprayed?

Splash shields and pretty much everything else was installed and in place when the front wheel well sound deadener was applied just like other years and at all plants
